Dear all
A little greeting for Paris. We
returned on the 21st of February after two wonderful months
in Denmark.
We had a lovely Christmas
together with Helén and Uffe at their home. We enjoyed seeing friends
and family – and not to forget the “kitchen project”. Hard work but we
think it was worth it – the new kitchen became real good and functional.
We left Denmark just at the
beginning of a snowstorm. We were lucky; we only were ½ an hour late.
For the rest of the day and the next 2 days hundreds of planes were
cancelled. We arrived at Port Arsenal at 12 o’clock, the weather was
changing between sun and rain but it was 10o C. Spring is
just around the corner, not bad
J.
The first evening our wonderful
neighbour, Susan, had conjured up a delicious dinner, so we were well
received. Next day we cleaned NUSER-II, it was really needed.
We have been walking round to
get Paris ”under our skin” again. Daffodils are in flower here in the
harbour and everywhere else. People really look more “gentle” when the
weather “smiles”.
Everybody is not “lucky” in the
French system. We went to Canal St. Martin where a French journalist has
given tents to some of the many homeless people here in Paris. They are
very visible along the banks of the Canal. Of course the issue is used
in connection with the presidential election this spring. We often see
them on the TV.
Of course we have been on the
open market behind Place Bastille. You buy lettuce to a price of 1€,
strawberries to 1½€, 3 dozen oysters no. 4 for 15€ (take that Trevor)
etc.
After the closing of the market
it is interesting to see how efficient the piles of waste are removed.
Something functions.
We are still trying learning
French. At our age it is allowed to be a “long term project” but it
shall not prevent us to continue
J
Love – with ”spring-greetings”
from
The bums of Paris (still for 2½
months)
