Dear All
Spring,
came – took a break but now it is on its way back.
J
After coming back to Paris we
had a lot of trips around in the parks etc. Everywhere flowers and the
magnolia trees were in full blossom. Among others we visited the
Cimerière du Pére Lachaise, where Edith Piaf, Sarah Bernhardt and Jim
Morrison are some of the many famous are buried. Now we have visited the
3 well-known cemeteries in Paris. In fact it is a long time since we
have seen a famous Danish cemetery.
J
On a Sunday we had a trip in and
around Parc Monceau in the 8th arrondissement, rather
exclusive area – with a lot of beautiful mansions behind “gold” fences.
When the weather is good of
course you have “manifestation”, this time the nurses had a “sit
down” demonstration for better conditions and higher salary. The Place
de la Bastille was closed for all traffic during some hours.
Just as we got used to spring it
became winter. The last 10 days have been cold, windy and rainy, even
with 2 heaters running full speed – some days we only had 17 C inside
NUSER-II. In the morning we had to use a whole kitchen roll to dry the
windows for steam.
That type of days is good for
museums and indoor activities. The captain has had a hard cold for 3
weeks but he is almost fit for fight again.
To day it is a wonderful
weather, sun and 17 C which means a lot of people is promenading in the
harbour. Next week-end there is going to be a Venetian Carnival here in
the Arsenal harbour every second year it is held here. 20.000
persons are expected to come and watch. Behind this
there has been a lot of preparation, costumes and masks are fantastic –
next Monday – you can see some pictures on our website.
Until then - love from
Jytte and Rudy
