Paris – Paris
Dear All
It
is time not to say – au revoir Paris - but – à bientôt Paris.
We have had 2 wonderful seasons in Paris. We have got new friends in the
harbour and in Paris and met a lot of people which we still are having
contact to.
We have learn some French, but there is a long way to go yet J. We have had visits from family, friends and former colleges. Have we seen everything in Paris? Certainly not – but we have got the city “under our skin”. Now it is time for going south seeking new experiences but we are leaving Paris with some sadness.
We have been looked after by the police – on foot, bike, car, roller skaters and on horseback.
We have seen a lot of beautiful – and less beautiful buildings, visited museums, churches and parks.
Last week we were on a “diner croisière” on board the “Calife”, the most fantastic cruise-boat in Paris. It is not “plastic” and “neon”, but the real thing – inside it is a adventure of the mystery of the East. It was a formidable Paris “by night” on the Seine – and the food!!
On
average one boat sinks every year here in Arsenal harbour. The “sinking”
this year was a fine old wooden boat, but bad maintained. It is so
“scary” to se a boat under water.
The security was here in no time – no people on board.
The election of the president in France was interesting to follow, a battle between left and right. Sarkozy (right) won and he will make a lot of reforms (a real Rambo) – needed but will the people accept the reforms? We think it is going to be “hot” in Paris in the autumn.
The
summer cruise is only about 800 km going to Valance about 100 km south
of Lyon, our end goal is Carcassonne.
